So I plan to hunt next weekend for the first time in donkeys years. Sorting my clobber out tonight. Can I tie my stock? Can't tie it for toffee 🙈

I get to the first flip over my shoulder and pass through the loop but it falls apart..... it's not a knot!

I've watched every YouTube tutorial there is but still I cannot 'get' it.!

Any tips greatly received..... a very huffed and puffed me 😳

:D

Really hard to describe tbh.

So you have one end folded in half, with the end over your left shoulder.

Take the right hand piece and pass in front of you left hand loop and back through the fold and down.

This should give you a knot!

Can you not get someone to show you?

Not going to help anymore because I am dead jealous that you are going hunting and I am not :D

Haha, you'll get it. Jen posted a sticky at the top of this thread. I use the written instructions that came with mine. The bit I have to work out is the bit where you loop one end under and up before you thread the other through to create the knot. Takes me a couple of go's then I remember!

Left over right normal knot so left comes out up towards your chin. Keep hold of the left on the left, pass it under the right towards your right, keeping a little sag at the top, then thread from the right through the saggy gap that you created back to the left - tighten, straighten, arrange as you like and pin. No idea what all this over shoulder business is about!

I also think it is easier to look down when tying a stock and look in a mirror to finish it/ pin it.
