Do you all tie your horses up when travelling?

I was just wondering why I do this? I travel in a trailer with the partition in and always tie my horse up (a large 17.2 in an ifor trailer)

there is no where for him to go and thought why do I tie him up? if I didn't then he would have more freedom to move his head as we travelled - is this a bad thing?

What about in horse boxes too - why do you tie up in there if there is no where for them to go?

agree it's different if there is no partition and you cross tie

If there was a crash/the ramp fell down I wouldnt want them buggering off on to the road. Stops them trying to turn themselves around.
Dunno really! Just do.

I kind of get the crash thing - but certainly with my boy - there is nowhere for him to go - the breast bar is right at chest height - no way of getting over or under - and as I've the partition in there is no way for him to turn round

Its something I've always done - because it seems the right thing to do -but started to think - why do I need to do this and wondered if there was any reasoning behind it?

I always tie up, am a massive worrier so just do! My head can make up all sorts of terrible occurances, she might turn around, the ramp might fall, she might go over/ under the breast bar. It may well never happen but I would rather not take the risk.
