Hi having a look at whats out there to have some fun on for safe hacking, riding club and local showing.
Can I have some thoughts from experience on show classes something like the mare in the attached add would be a suitable type for at 153.5 cm? small hunter? wh provided jumping ?

Thanks

It isn’t a small hunter. Dealer is well known for finding show horses. That is just a local level fun type.

Strange ad as it is not a HW cob either and they haven't even given a trim to tidy the heels which may make it look neater but possibly show the lack of bone, the hocks look capped to me which would not help your cause even at local level.
She could be fun but I would want to know a bit more about what she has been doing as it says nothing about how she is to ride, she may be sweet but has she actually been out hacking, seen traffic there is no mention of riding other than videos available, to me she looks as if she has lived out doing pretty much nothing until very recently, a smarten up, a bit of basic schooling and up for sale with no miles on the clock.

Thanks both, I didnt think it was a HW cob either but was looking for some experienced thoughts from the forum. Fair point - be positive - the absence of what isnt included in the advert leaves question.

Tbh, not a show type realy, to cobby for hunter classes, not quality enough for the cob classes. Looks quite long in the back too.

The quest continues. I have this cob x irish draft to view. I think it may be the same showing type route?! Anyone?! Standing at 15.1 now at 3 and looking bum high.

Show me your cob x irish drafts please ?

it would depend on type, really cannot tell without a photo.

my last lad was 1/2 ID, 1/4 cob, 1/4 tb and was definitely a small hunter type.

He doesnt look to have anywhere near enough bone for the cob class IMO (and I stand to be corrected on that one), if he grows a bit possibly the hunter class a

I am thinking at 3 with the bum looking high there might be some more growing.

All the breeding isnt in the passport so cant look at the parents.

This is a small hunter by RID out of a cob mare. Bottom picture in the rough and top 2 produced. 7 year old in all pictures.37217165_1133871553420175_500110497366933504_n.jpg 37192295_1133872040086793_7622099587708223488_n.jpg

This is my HW cob possibly ID x / Bog pony (that bit is a joke, I have no idea how he is bred - like many cobs I suspect he's a happy accident!)
I keep meaning to measure how much bone he has but I'd say at least 10" of flat quality bone makes a HW
