I'm looking at gettin.g a new horse after September, obviously haven't started looking yet. I am undecided as to what. I want to do dressage in said new horse and would like it to be capable of getting in theory to at least advanced medium.
I want ideally max 15.2hh and have my eye on a highland. Would preferably like a good doer capable of living out easily if needed.so I would like ideas of breeds and places to look.
Thanks.

I don't think 'type' is as important as other things :) You may find that a pure highland will struggle to do well at the higher levels of dressage, there are a few about and some are very nice indeed, but even with correct training they can find some of the more advanced work tricky. A cross bred or welsh x will give you the hardiness but may make dressage come a little 'easier' for them.

has lots of highland info. and sales :)

I wouldn't rule out anything much though, my boy is 15.3hh, hardy as anything and would happily live out (and he's a Belgian WB though 3/4 tb). With a half decent rider he would have done very well indeed in dressage, and he is the easiest ride. Keep an eye out locally and make sure as many people know as possible what you are looking for.

I have a Highland x TB, she is 15.2hh and a great allrounder with an enormous jump. She grows a huge coat and would definitely live out if I needed her to. Would definitely recommend one of the TB pony crosses, seen some lovely welsh x tbs too.
