What do you all use for hairy feathers?

Really fine, surgical type tooth blades, standard blades or skip tooth coarse blades?

I would use standard blades if I was able to get close enough to clip them off

Used to use standard blades, but this year leaving feathers on to see if she fairs any better mudfever wise (have never seen her with hairy legs, so is going to be interesting!!).

The Best way to do long thick feathers & Mains are with Coarse blades, then go over with the medium, the coarse blades wont blunt as quick on that type of hair.& because the blades cut better your putting less stress on the clipper motor!

For a true hairy like Cairo when I had to have him x-rayed I snipped off the long hair nice and short with sissors to start. Then I use A2 blades and then A2F as we had to have him "shaved" due to his thick bone.

I did a friend's welshie recently who was a hairy native beastie and she wanted a SHP.

Used some small trimmers and then further up the leg blended clip into long hair using a clippersharp comb - took ages but the result looked like completely natural summer TB legs rather than welsh hairy cob. She came first and was complimented on the turnout of her pony - that kid owes me a lot of mucking out!

I used to use coarse blades to remove most of it then normal to get a close shave.
Or go downwards with the hair with your normal blades then upwards against it.
I would go for it, she will look stunning minus legs!!!
