DIY is you do everything yourself.Assisted DIY is they might do things like turnout/bring in rug change.Full is they do most things for you and Part is abit of both.
Full livery - ownder does nothing. Bedding and Hay part of the cost. Feed, blacksmith and vet additional. This could include exercising the horse as well - but this would be extra by negotiation.
Part Livery. Owner pays for everything themselves - but the YO will 'do' the horse several times a week.
DIY. Owners does everything themselves, and pays for everthing.
Assisted DIY. Owner does everthing themselves, and pays for everthing - but may need the ocassional bit of help. For example, may need horse brought in or turned out sometimes if owner is unable to attend, or for the blacksmith or the like. This would also include holiday care if owner is away. Additional charges do vary. But would be around £2.00 for turning horse out/brining in. £5.00 for mucking out etc.
I would not go to a yard where assisted DIY was not available.
Mine are on part livery. The owner does the mornings and will feed, give them a haynet, turn them out or top up the water if they are staying in.
At weekends she doesn't turn out or do the water.
She doesn't do any mucking out or exercise. Haylage is included in the price, but not bedding.
Mine is on a part livery where the YO turns out and brings in (does them all at once - saves chaos) and feeds. The cost of hay and straw are in the deal, I buy the short feed, muck out/do haynet/water every day except when I'm away (approx once every 2 months), and do all the exercise.
It depends on the yard, you would have to speak to them.
At my yard; full livery= everything done for owner, feeding mucking out riding, grooming etc, owner could not come down for weeks and it wouldn't matter as horse would be completely cared for.
Part livery= Most things done, muck out, turn out, feed etc but up to owner to ride and groom horse, owner expected to come down most days.
DIY: Owner does everything for horse although yard may feed it breakfast if you're lucky!
Assisted DIY: Owner does everything at weekend but during week the yard owner will turn out and bring in the horse and possibly give feeds if owner can't make it.
DIY at mine includes all hay and straw, and usually first one up feeds them. Everything else is done by the owner. I've only even been on completely DIY yards so no idea about the others.
It varies from yard to yard but usually it is:
DIY - owner does everything and has a stable, turnout and use of facilities and storage space.
Assisted - as DIY but they turn out/bring in, change rugs, feed, hay and water one end of the day/both ends of the day/set days/when needed or whatever the arrangment is.
Part livery - they turn out/bring in, change rugs, feed, hay, water and muck out, usually the price includes feed, hay and bedding.
Full livery - as part but they exercise, groom and clean tack - basically they do everything.
DIY is exactly what it says - you do everything yourself
Part livery usually includes horses being mucked out and fed etc by the yard staff during the week and then you do it at the weekends.
Full Livery is where the yard staff do it all for you.
