My current guide dog puppy, is just coming up to 13 months, and was due to be spade today though she hadnt come into season, despite showing sings that she might be for about 2 months now.
Id just about come round to the idea of her being spade before her season(nnot that we have any choice in it) when last night, mum went for a final check and....she'd started

so now had to cancel the spay, have 3 weeks of watching where you wlak and no free running and a miserable poppydog then shes only getting a months rest before being spade as she needs to go in for the next stage of her training soon

My bet is that shes the type of dog to have a phantom pregnancy too, which are not fun, shes quite miserable at the moment, forgetting to come to the fridge for cheese(which never happens) and just laying slumped on the heated floor all sad

Just thought id tell you that!

why was you going to spay before a season i thought it was best to spay after at least one season or do they do it differently because she training to be a guide dog

Our JRT went through the depressed stage when she had her first season. Just lay in her bed, no interest in titbits or even much in food, and didn't want to go out much. It only lasted about 5-7 days though.

The vet said we had to wait for 2 months afterwards before she was speyed.

She needed to be spayed because she hadnt come into season and needs to get onto her next stage of training, otherwise they get really bored and stuff, thats also why she only gets a month before being spade, needs to go onto her training, and cant be in with the dogs still recovering or not yet being spayed, and they get a big work load when they leave

Our last puppy got ever so upset, she had her season, dont tihnk she had a phantom pregnancy, got spayed, wasnt very pleaseed, poor thing got an infection so had to go back to the vets, refused to go into the room do had to be carried, we picked her up and brought her home and he sat where we ledft her for hours, she wouldnt look at my mum...i eventually managed to coax her into the living room.
When she went back for her check up she was shaking all over- im hoping that doesnt happen to poppy!

No - Poppy's been done. About a month ago now. Had a v upset post the night we brought her home as she just lay in her bed whining, but by the next day she was as right as rain again and running about.
Hope yours goes as well.
