Hi all,

What colour foal would a buckskin Connemara mare likely have if she was bred to any of the following colours; grey, bay, or buckskin stallion? (The buckskin mare has a grey dam and a bay sire).

Would there be a higher possibility of a cremello foal with any certain combinations? Also what combination could potentially produce a buckskin foal?

TIA

Grey, would depend if homozygous or heterozygous and what colour was behind the grey. Colours will also depend on what is behind the grey in the grey dam. Homozygous grey will always give a grey foal.
With the bay stallion you are likely to get equal chance of buckskin or bay, though depending on if they are heterozygous for agouti and black you could possibly get black or chestnut and the dilute versions smoky black/palomino.
Buckskin stallion will give 25% bay, 50% buckskin and 25% perlino though again they could carry through black/chestnut variations if both are not homozygous for agouti.
Only the buckskin stallion could produce a double diluted foal perlino/cremello unless the grey is carrying a dilute gene hidden by the grey.

Or something like that.
