Saw a pic of my horse who is loan today being jumped - not a huge jump, and one he is capable of, but it was the WAY he was jumping it that got me - like he had completely forgotten how to use his legs - and he is normally one for really tucking the front legs up, but he had them dangling like he was half hearted about it all.

There was also a comment about the jump requiring a pony club kick before hand.

Now to me that is a big welly boot in the ribs - and he had never needed that before for jumping unless its a water jump.

I did leave a comment about did the jump stay up etc. I will see what is replied then maybe mention that he shouldn't be needing a big kick to jump

. I guess this is what happens when folk who are learning to ride....................poor boy is just not used to big kicks as I cant do them due leg problems, so I hope he doesn't come back dead to the leg as I didn't think to put "Don't do big pony club kick in case you deaden his sides" into the loan agreement as well...............it looks stupid!

I hope to go see him this week tho.

Having a ned on loan is not always easy. It's very unlikely that ned will be looked after/ridden in the same way as you would look after/ride - some things will be better, and some things will be not as good. It's a chance you have to take, espcially if there is a beginner on board.

If he does come back slightly dead to the leg, you can retrain him to where you want him to be

I hope so..........It's more that he has never needed that before, so part of me is wondering WHY does he need big kicks? Is he sore or fed up? etc? He will not show when he is in pain really - he has never been lame in the 4.5 years I have owned him, but you can tell when he is not happy - so I shall see when I am going to visit him.

I think that now they have clicked that he can jump quite well they go to near the max, so its prob more boredom as he is used to like, lots of different jumps set out, not the same one over and over and over, like they have.

I hope they get out ot a show soon
