Just heard from a friend that Rocket, one of the Riding School ponies we had to sale recently is back up for sale.
When we sold him they said he had a home for a long time now.

Sounds familiar! I sold a pony last year (october) and was assured he had a home for many years to come, silly person called me a couple of weeks ago, pony is lovely, daughter loves him, do i want to buy him back? It seems shes got herself preggers and of course pony is offloaded asap, i give up!!!!

if i ever have to sell my mare or any future horses i'm going to try and get a contract stating i have first refusal of the horse if it is to be sold in the future.I'd only sell on that condition. It must feel awful, these poor ponies that are shoved from one home to another especially the small lead rein ones that are outgrown regularly.

I bought my 13.2hh pony (Kyle) for my son when he was 7 years old, but he quickly lost interest. By that time I had grown attached to Kyle, and though for myself I'd have prefered a horse around 15.2 -16hh there was no way I would sell Kyle.

So here I am 15 years later and Kyle is still with me and I have just bought another pony 14.1hh who hopefully will aways be with me.
