I have a filly who was extremely ugly as a yearling. You know the sort of thing, the teenager growing in all directions at once!

Then she turned into a swan as a 2yo.

Now, at nearly 3, I'm not so sure! She seems to be too big for her legs!

Any pictures of yours??

(But she does make up for it in other ways!:D)

LOL, no pictures here but was going to do a wtf happened to my fuglies post.

I've one sat at 3 and one at 4 both of whom I tried (unsuccessfully) to sell for 3 figures last year :eek:

The Quirifino out of a Clover Hill mare just looked ridiculous with her Grandpa's huge head and a Zangershiede body. Now standing 16.2 she looks county standard WH or even perhaps MW ridden hunter, moves too.

The other one was called Donkey for a long time as was the ugliest foal I had ever seen. Wouldn't take anything under £4K unbroken now and if stays at 15.2 will be ace intermediate WH, again with the potential to excel at ridden possibly (I'm no expert)

What a difference a year makes!!!!!!! Funny thing is though a couple of people did tell me to be careful panic selling at 2 for exactly that reason.

Really hoping my (always stunning) yearlings don't go the other way though :D:D

Yes mine... first photo as a yearling, (he was born solid chestnut at the front) his colour looks awful, he had a rubbish mane or tail, his body short, neck looks all wrong, took him until he was 6 (last year).. to actually fill out and look nice (though he went leopard at 3) the other photo is of him yesterday.. now he looks like a nice solid horse, he is entire, but I but think that made any difference..

Ooo, me!

My ID x TB was kinda cute when he arrived at rising two but quickly turned into the ugliest duckling possible. He spent all last year looking like he was made up of charity shop spare parts. Huge head, tiny weedy short neck, very deep but really narrow barrel and long spindly legs but huge joints (so much so that a friend asked how he'd bashed his knees to make them swell!). It wasn't boding well for my nice hunter type I had in mind!

As a not quite 2yr old, looking ok.

Thankfully he's growing out of it! I don't have any decent recent pics but he's getting there. Neck's grown so head looks better. He's widened out and he's starting to get more bone. He should really be hidden until next year still though!

Getting there

mine is still ugly - he was born ugly, didnt grow out of it, and looks weirdly put together when standing. he has a very narrow chest but wide behind. but when i take him into a dressage ring he is hard to beat! tack and rider and a contact and hes a different horse.
