I really, really, really should stop looking at online adverts for horses!
I don't have my own at the moment as off to university in Durham in October (a good 3/4 hours away) so really don't have time for a horse....BUT I just can't help looking at adverts (I blame all you HHOers with your 'look at my new horse' posts! :p)
This is the latest chap to catch my eye...exactly my type of horse. Looks a little too good to be true for £2750 though?

So anyone else struggling with temptation? Feel free to post pictures of your secret desires!

I am so bad for browsing adverts and thinking "ooh... That one's worth a phone call!" when I am not really in the market to buy right now. There's definitely something addictive about window shopping* though!

*I tell the boyfriend it's "market research" for when I do buy one :D

I personally wouldn't pay that for a 15 year old. I like Horsemart as you can filter local adverts, though this makes it more likely you can just "pop over" to see something! :D

ainceman...... bargepole anyone?

Pretty sure they mean to suggest that he once sold for 7.5 grand not 75 grand!!!!

Totally forgot to look at the advert! Gorgeous horse.
Video is 3 years old though and with all the horror stories around at the moment, I totally avoid anything from Kent! Apologies to all the lovely honest sellers around there (not like I can buy anyway at the moment so you're not really missing out).

If he was from a trustworthy source I would consider the price fair but a lot can happen/not happen in three years so I'd want information on what he's doing now.

By the way OP, I hope you enjoy your time at Durham. :) I went to uni there too!

ETS: Rhino yes that's him, that's the video in the advert. I'd like to take him round a course of jumps :)

I'm terrible for it, not that I can afford one at the moment, rubbish pay and too much stress at work! Saw one that sounded perfect for me but it sold quickly so hopefully it went to a loving home!

dont dont dont go there that person really needs locking up along with her mother and boyfriend who has name same as famous snooker player cant go into how much i know on here

Ah, I was wondering if I might bump into anyone on here's that's been to Durham! What college were you in? Did you join the riding team/club by any chance? :)

Have to say I didn't look into the seller before posting the thread on here...I'll put them on my list to avoid!
I still think it's a nice horse, I agree with RebelRebel though, its a shame to see a horse that has obviously done well being dumped with a dealer at 15.
I hope he finds a nice home, it's a good jump I'm not in a position to buy or else I'd be having serious nightmares about this horse :)

So any other horses that have caught anyone's eye recently?

I went to St Aidan's and loved it - where are you going? I had friends from all different colleges though and everyone liked their own college! PM me if you have any questions, either before you go or when you get there :)

I went along to the first tryouts for the equestrian team, but the riding school was about an hour away so I wasn't sure I'd have time, plus the girl leading the tryouts seemed so snobby... So I left it. Did get to ride some nice horses during the try out though and probably would have been a bit more willing to have a go if I'd have got on with the captain! I am glad I left it though if I'm honest - the terms are insanely short there so I rode my horse as much as I could in the hols at home (didn't take him with me for a number of reasons, the short terms being one of them), and then during term time I spent a lot of time with my uni friends (and doing the odd bit of work! :p).

Unless the EQ team captain is doing back to back medicine degrees there's no way she'll still be there (and hopefully they will have found closer stables!) so you may well have better luck if you fancy joining the team :). If the stables are the far away ones, go to the tryouts anyway as the horses are quite nice and you may well be more organised than I was and have better time management :p:D

Ah ok, I'm going to be at Hild Bede studying law :)
I think I'd definately like to try out for the team (hopefully the captain will be nice this year!) I don't have my own horse at the moment as I'm off to university so was really hoping I'd be able ride there, but I guess it depends on time/transport. When I went on the open day I asked about riding and one of the tutors said they thought it had merged with the Queens campus team so I guess the stables are still pretty far away!
What did you have to do in the try outs?
