Can anyone recommend an ulcer supplement for my pony? Looking for a calmer too.

Bit about pony, had him 3 months, trad cob. Currently fed once a day on Dengie healthy hooves, one scoop gut balancer, brewers yeast, mint and garlic. He's fussy so only eats it with the mint and garlic added. Out all day in at night with hay.

He's had his teeth and back done, saddle fitter coming out in a few weeks. Work wise we've done mostly in hand stuff, pole work, lunging and long reining. I've ridden on the lead rope he's fine. Off the rope he bronced me off. He's quite spooky and think he's still not fully settled.

Chiro suggested ulcer supplement and saddle check.

So any suggestions for supplement? Is equinutrtive good? Buck off? Any others?
Thanks for reading!

Has the vet checked for ulcers?
How old is he and what has he done before you got him
Lots don't like brewers yeast so unless you have a real need for it I wouldn't bother if it's putting him off his food.

I wouldn't feed garlic it's now not recommended to feed it to horses for a number of reasons.

Aloe vera juice can calm the stomach and is proven to help prevent ulcers but won't cure them, I've used it alot if I think mine will stress over something and definitely noticed that it helped at the time.

Calmers are a bit hit and miss I've found I have fed magnesium oxide but it can have the opposite effect if the horse doesn't need it, it's worth checking if your balancer already has it added.

My Louis will literally loose the plot spooking and just wild to ride if he has too much of it so I know it's definitely worth removing if your having these issues.

He's 5, not done loads just hacking out. Properly started and was very well cared for.

He hasn't got ulcers just suggested he have something in case. No symptoms apart from sensitive sides. Hence saddle getting checked.

Any suggestions on a better chaff, got the heathly hooves to keep his weight nice so trying to avoid sugars. He is barefoot.

To add - his coat went dull when I first got him but the brewers yeast has made his coat alot better.
It's the chaff he isn't keen on 🙈

Try some aloe vera I get 2 bottles on amazon for about £17 I feed between 20 and 60mls depending on how they have been.

I feed grass chaff mine won't eat straw chaff I use Emerald grass tastic or graze on its just chopped grass nothing else added.
