Possibly a stupid question but…
Can spring grass cause ulcers to flare up?
Horse has started bucking going into canter, he threw similar shapes (slightly more dramatic back then) when he had grade 2 ulcers. He’s on a very ulcer friendly diet so I can’t think what would have caused any sort of flare up other than the spring grass coming through and he’s also had to be on haylage for a couple of weeks until my hay man has been able to come out😫
Had his saddle checked which was ok and physio came out 3 weeks ago and there wasn’t any soreness in his back.

Sugar in spring grass can cause hind gut acidosis. Lottie can’t tolerate it so she is in during day, out at night when sugars are lower from Spring to Autumn.

Thank you, he’s also the same but the grass at ours has gone crazy the last few weeks so I’m wondering if that plus having no other choice but to feed some haylage has upset his stomach. Back to hay tomorrow so hopefully 🤞🏽
Also got some activated charcoal so going to give him that for a week

Yes, we had a horse thats ulcers kept coming back time and time. One vet told us to put him on grass it will heal. silly us we stuck him out with the cows on very good grass. 3 scopes and no improvement. changed to another field less grass, kept treating and added the supplement ponease. scoped clear! Hes on the ulc maintenance now from ponease and when we move fields if there is more grass I use the ulc fix.Grass can upset the hind gut to and this seems to cover both (recommended by my vet)
