Hi
Does anyone know if 24hour turnout is better for horses with ulcers and suffers with colic.
Has anyone had a ulcer/ colic prone horse during the winter and 24 hour turnout helped?

It will help because ulcer horses need ad lib forage so unrestricted grazing provides this. Colic is ofyen helped by walking so again, grazing provides this. Its possible your horse is colicking because of the ulcers. Horses witg 24/7 turnout are often less stressed too, another factor in preventing ulcers. Just ensure your horse has a rug when necessary and that the field is a good one not a mud pit.
