Hi Guys
Without giving too much information, horse coliced in the last year and diagnosis was sand colic with an impaction. He made a full recovery and has been fine health wise until 4 days ago when i was riding him he turned round and started nipping at his left side when i was schooling him. He's also felt a bit stiff recently when ridden. Got off and started prodding in his hindgut area and he was reactive. I put him back out and haven't done much since. Vet wants to see him trot up as well as a scope to see if there is any potential lameness as there can be a link?
Since the colic i decided to insure him as i was scared of any future bills for vet care and was left in a lot of debt. I declared this colic episode and provided the documents the vets gave but on my insurance it says no exclusions? could this be a mistake? I'm planning on getting him scoped but with ulcer treatment coming up to £2.5k I need to come up with a plan and wondering if they would treat ulcers if he came up with them on a scope? He would be covered if anything came up on a lameness workup as has been fully sound no issues for majority of his life. What are peoples experiences? I find it strange it says no exclusions but you can see all the information i provided when i applied for insurance. I know some providers will distinguish between ulcers and colic and some will rule out from mouth to stomach.
