.... However, it was well and truly worth it!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Rox qualified last week at Epworth for the Ultimate Showcase of Champions in Harrogate at the Yorkshire Showground yesterday. He went in two classes and did me proud, he behaved so well and took it all in his stride, I am a very proud mum! :)

My friend Davina showed him for me as I can't run due to a bad ankle break last year. My two other friends Emma and Sarah came with us to give us a helping hand and we had an absolute ball. Talk about laughing - I have never laughed so much in a long time! We had an awesome time, the show was set up really well, and we enjoyed every minute. :D

First of all Rox went in the Youngstock 2 - 3 year old class. He came 9th out of 18 horses. He was so well behaved in the ring. I was so shocked and proud, I was really pleased with the result. Afterwards, the judges steward that qualified us last week, approached me and told me not to be too disheartened as the judge in the ring was a welsh judge, hence the more native types being placed higher. She said Rox was a lovely horse and would do well in the coloureds. I could feel myself welling up! It was so lovely for her to come find me and approach me, it meant alot! :)

Rox then went in the coloured class and won out of 13 horses! Shocked just isn't the word for it, it was sheer disbelief!! My friend Emma said to me, "Laura, Rox has won!", I said "no he hasn't", she said "yes he has, look, Rox has won, he's been pulled out first". Confused, I was looking at her, looking at Rox in the line up, looking back at Emma, then at my friend Sarah for confirmation, OH MY GOD MY PONY WON!!!!! :D :D :D

The judge presented him with his 1st place rosette and sash, Davina put it on him and then the photographer snapped away. Then Rox lead the lap of honour and he let out some MASSIVE bucks, it was as if he was showing off as he knew he had done so well!

I am still in shock, it is totally euphoric! I am over the moon, elated just doesn't sum up the feeling I have! I am so grateful to have such a wonderful pony, such great friends, the opportunity to qualify for such a show, the lovely judges, and then to get placed so well! My word!!! I owe massive thanks to all of those people that have supported me, that is including HHO and CSP posters that wished us luck, but also I couldn't have done it without my friends!

Thank you!! xx :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I met maybedaisy and lorilingo from HHO yesterday at the show, nice to meet you guys! I hope you had a lovely day and did well. Who else went? Did you have a good time, any photos to add? :D

Here's a link to my facebook album for now, feel free to add me as a friend if you can't view the pictures. I will upload some pictures on this thread at some point today, however, my photobucket account is on a major go slow!! xx http://www.facebook.com/?sk=media#!/album.php?id=626507929&aid=246213

EEEEEK I know, thank you so much! I never in my wildest dreams thought he would get placed, I am so made up! That is so sweet of you to say, it was one hell of a moment I tell you! :)

Yes yes, I have managed to get Davina to show him for me at Epworth, so I will see you there! :) He will be in the Youngstock and Coloured classes again. I hope we both qualify for it again too, if we do, we ought to keep in touch and perhaps go together, it only took an hour and half to get there! xx :D

Thank you very much sweet! I know, what a monkey, he really knew he had done well, talk about a celebration lol! I can't wait to see the professionals photos, I'm hoping he got some of the 'action' shots lol! :D

Bear is absolutely gorgeous, such a cute little dude! Congratulations on your placings, you had a really good day out with both of your two eh! Well done!

I'm off to a show on bank holiday Monday in the hope to qualify for next years USOC show! xx :)

Would love to do Great Yorkshire one year but many many miles from us so not likely to happen. Good luck with your next outing and washing!

Great Pics. I've snook into the second to last one as well, behind the fence. Dante got 4th in the Veteran behind a very nice flashy Welsh Stallion and two other lovely horses so we were very pleased.

If I go again though I won't set off as early as she was nodding off in the ring and I was knackered.

Had a lovely icecream at the end though.

Me too, that's now my aim for next year, Great Yorkshire Show and Lincolnshire Show. :)

Where are you from? Get yourself there, you will love it - they do stabling over night if you have a long way to travel. I'm from North Lincolnshire, and the AA router estimated it would take 1 hour 20 minutes, so I guessed with a trailer it may take 2 hours plus. Surprisingly, it only took an hour and a half, and the majority of the way I was only doing 50 mph up the motorway!

Thank you for the good luck on my next outings! xx :D

Oh wow, well done! She looks to have a lovely personality, she has such a kind and genuine face, she is a real credit to you! I had timed it just right, I didn't have too much time hanging about, I estimated his first class would be at 10 and it started at 10:40 - so I wasn't too far out! xx :D

Rudey thanks for that. Did go as a spectator many years ago - happened to be in the Harrogate area at the right time and had a lovely day there. Am sure you should have lots of fun and success with your horse, he is very much my type of coloured horse.

Thank you! :) Funnily enough, I didn't use to like coloureds! For my second horse I wanted a 2 year old black filly with no markings whatsoever as I hated bathing my bay for shows and cleaning his three white socks!! So naturally, I bought a 9.5 month old, unhandled entire coloured colt, with four full white legs and white on his body.  Te he heee! xx :D

Well done, a fantastic result and no surprise looking at those photos, super smart pony:D!

Thank you so much xmanda90x! It was the first time that I had used thread on his mane and tail, usually I plait with bands but going there, I thought I ought to make an effort! In fairness, thread looks a million times better then bands, and so his turnout was the best I could possibly do with the little dude! xx :D

ets: The coloured in your photo has a beautiful face! xx

Thank you very much! It's not me in the photos unfortunately! It is my friend showing him for me as I can't run anymore due to badly breaking my ankle! I have always wanted a sash, I have had my bay for nearly 14 years and never managed it. Then, within the space of a week, Rox has got two!! xx :D
