As some of you may be aware, I went to see a ''collie x Lab 2 year old bitch'' today to see if she would be suitable to join our family.
It didn't go well!
For a start, the lady told us to meet at the kennels at 12 noon, she would bring 'Scruffy'' in as the dog is currently being fostered by her. So at 12.55 she turns up, no appology for being late. We were not the only ones waiting, several other people were there to look at their potential new friends too. One very nice young man was going to look at a staffy x mastiff pup, his dream dog. He had phoned on Wednesday and made it to the kennels as soon as possible today.... only to be told that the pup no longer lived there (whether this means rehomed to another person or moved kennels I don't know.
Anyway, the lady gets out of the car, with Scruffy.... who is NOT the dog she discribed. Aside from very bad manners from the dog, pulling on the lead, jumping up and generally causing chaos (to the other people, she ignored us!) she is as far from collie x as you can get! We took Ebby too, and she also got ignored - luckily for Ebby! The poor dog was also desperate for the loo, she did about 5 massive wee's and several poo's all on the concrete, I did wonder if she was taken out at all this morning!? When I told the lady she wasn't quite what we were after, as she clearly wasn't a collie x, she asked me what I thought she was... so I told her...
That is a Staffy, perhaps with a tad of Lab but not much... she then told me, that it says collie x on her ''hand over'' papers.... I nearly told her to get her eyes checked and not to believe everything you see written down! lol
Then the insult of insults... she told me that Scruffy looks identical to Ebby, 'they could be full sisters''!! Ummm NO, nothing like each other. Luckily one of the other visitors admired my 'whippet' so that made us all feel better.
So, Scruffy isn't for us, hope she finds a nice new home though... but for her sake, I wish the lady would discribe her better...
