Well i've decided im definitely going to buy a new saddle (dressage saddle) but im not sure what colour to go for- brown or black?
All my other tack is brown, so if i buy black that means i have to buy new bridle. And no i can't put up with having a brown bridle and black saddle, lol, thats just me, everything has to match, lol.
But i do like dressage saddles in black, but brown is nice too and everyone has black, oh i don't know! So.........

If I am honest I think horses doing dressage look so much better in Black.

For SJ / XC I like the brown / Tan tack.

I think it looks so much smarter for dressage when your horse is in Black

But then its not me buying the stuff!! if you go and get a black one then you will have to go and get a black Bridle however if you have a lot of dosh then it does not matter

I'm a "mega-against-black-leather-saddles" person! However, when it comes to dressage saddles, it really has to be black as the bridle and saddle will always match in colour. The trouble with buying brown is that the saddle and bridle will never totally match.

I had this dilemma not long ago! I've always used brown tack, but i went for a black dressage saddle, because i thought it looked better, so i had to buy a black bridle to match my black dressage saddle!!!

I've got brown & love it & a bridle that matches....well it appears to match.....there is always sufficient distance between the two not to notice any slight colour variation.

I know black is the traditional colour but I don't like black that much...I think it eventually loses some colour and goes greyish & never looks as nice at brown when it ages....just my opinion.

Can't understand this fascination with black tack for dressage - I think it looks a bit chavvy (sorry to all) but then so does quite a bit of dressage stuff if you're not careful.

Black dressage saddles generally have a better secondhand resale value. They are also easier to sell secondhand because most people want black- think its a fashion thing!! Just something to consider.

I agree for some reason while I think brown tack looks nicer in every other situation - in dressage, black just looks smarter to me and more - appropriate.
