we are no where ready to compete but have done a couple of fun/charity courses.
my question is-if you go to a kc or uka show are the rings edged in single tape or a mesh barrier ?

(don't think we would be much good in the former.)

Not sure about all of them but both venues i have been to use the orange plastic mesh stuff

I haven't competed for a few years now but back then you'd get a mixture of both. Not sure if the rules have changed though.

Most that i have been too are just rope my friend went to Emdac when she first started competing as their rings are fully enclosed and beginner dogs can have non audible toys in the ring but she was from that area so tied shows in with visiting family

The majority of shows both UKA and KC use single roping for the rings.

Rings with mesh barriers are very much the exception rather than the norm. Look for indoor venues as these are more likely have mesh or crash barriers, even KC ones. If you're anywhere near Shropshire I can recommend a few venues that have either mesh or the venue itself is decently fenced.

Don't despair too much though, I thought I'd never be able to run my dog in an unfenced ring, she recently won out in a roped ring on just her second attempt at KC.

thank you for replies.we are still learning.
we attend ob every week but am waiting for an agility space to come up at club as my trainers says we are not beginners and need to go straight into 2nd group.

Most are just rope, there are a few shows that use mesh netting, but not too many.

As above - most are rope. look for unaffiliated shows they are usually mesh in my experience.
