Oh dear... sorry I've raised suspicions. I'm genuinely a new member and sadly not a criminal mastermind.

Was reading the thread as have been following HHO for a while. I bought my own pony from an ad on FreeAds so when other posters suggested looking at free selling websites I checked it out and there she was on the first page.

After posting the link I had to go and collect OH from airport and only just back now to see how OP was getting on... seems I've caused quite a bit of excitement :eek:

Hope you get to the bottom of things UnaB
 
When I wrote one of my first posts yesterday I said I would be putting lots of pix up. Unfortunately this thread has made me think twice about doing so. It's a shame a few selfish so and so's out to make a quick (dishonest) buck have to ruin it for everyone!:mad:

Sorry but with all going one I'm sure you can see my suspicions that your first and at the time only post found OPs horse in quite a worrying thread.

What I don't understand is why people put so much information about themselves, their homes, children and animals on the internet, without even thinking that any-one and every-one can see it.

OP, I wouldn't worry too much about it. IMO it is far more likely to be a scam trying to get someone to buy a horse unseen than it is to be a threat of any kind to Una.
There was one site recently where the same picture was used to advertise 3 different horses, with 3 different sellers/addresses/phone numbers. I can't remember the exact name and don't want to defame any site but it was a free site. It was quite fascinating really. I spent quite some time looking through the ads, which were all 'for sale' by what sounded like a teenage girl's name.
I didn't reply to any of them but I was rather surprised that there was no 'report' button on the site.
 
Had only read thread up until my name was first mentioned before responding. Have now read the entire thread and it seems my reply may be misinterpreted.

Genuinely sorry I've caused such a fuss. Was only trying to help.
 
How scary, I hope this is the end of it now the ad has been removed. I'm really paranoid about things like this - I don't post any pictures of my horse on here, or write anything that could reveal where I live or which yard I keep him at. The only photos of him on the internet are on facebook, and those have the highest privacy settings so that only my friends can see them. Maybe a bit OTT considering that he's not worth much and I doubt anyone would really want to go to all the trouble of stealing a 15 year old hairy cob, but it keeps my mind at ease!

I wonder if you'll ever find out who it was... I hope so, would be very irritating not to know.

I have my suspicions but unless anyone confesses there will probably be no way of telling... But I will be very careful what I post in the future on any forums.
 
I saw the title of the forum and got all excited... cos I totally and utterly love Una and would snap her up if I could! Was so dismayed to find out the real contents though.

Most of these ads are about doing potential buyers out of money when buying unseen. I know it's worrying, but take the compliment that your horse is such a stunner they knew using her photos would lure people in!

Thistledonicely: glad you've taken the suspicions well. At least you've seen how protective and helpful the HHO can (try to) be! lol 80)
