In N London, I have been hacking schooling and jumping a very genuine little Irish Draught gelding. He's not really got any competition experience, but is beautifully schooled on the flat and is taking to showjumping very well (he's done it 3 times under saddle, isn't stopping or knocking anything approaches and lands in a lovely rhythm) he isn't exceptionally scopey, but he's got the irish ability to get over the fence somehow!
His owner has suggested to me would I like to compete him, which is a definite YES! But there are two problems...
1) Where is there around the london/herts/middlesex area that offers unaff dressage and 2'3 - 2'6 showjumping, baby hunter trials etc?
and
2) How do I get there? Horses owner doesn't have any transport and I don't have the funds for horsebox hire. Do you think putting a notice on the message board at the yard for any option to 'share' a ride for petrol money could work? Does anyone here want a show companion/helper/petrol cost sharer??
