Well my dressage instructor told me to get out and do abit of pure dressage on my horse, as she gets all tense when we do dressage as part of an ODE as she knows that once the dressage is done its jumping time, so need to get her to realise that jumping doesn't always follow on from dressage...!

so, obviously I am going to be doing prelims...i think

(as you can see i don't "do" pure dressage

) but which prelims? do they get harder eg. is prelim 7 harder than prelim 4? ooh its so confusing lol

also does anyone know anywhere that has unaff dressage on in the next few weeks in the west mids (worcestershire area)? thanks

theres dressage at Alvechurch Riding Club next sat. Im entered but can no longer get there. You can have my entry if you like? Its Prelim 18 and Novice 27?

Generally the higher the number the harder the test, but none of the prelims are difficult. I personally think 7 is nicer than 4 though. You'll be fine, I'm rubbish at dressage and my instructor thinks I'll be ok the do a novice next time out.

Don't know what's on in your area though sorry!

None of them are really difficult - its all just a bit of walk, trot and canter

- I think that they are supposed to get harder the higher the number - I like prelim 18 best though (its easy to remember!)

Have fun!

Some of them look much harder than others but when you actually get on and ride them they flow nicer!

I did Prelim 12 and 17 last week and 17 looks v. scary with extra letters etc but it's actually less complicated than 12!

Prelim 10 is my fav so far I think

No harm in trying one of the more straight forward Novices either xx

Yes I did prelim 16 and 17 yesterday, they're both long arena which is a bit scary but they ride nicely, much easier than 13 and 14 IMO. I've never actually done P10 before but I'm doing it in a few weeks, also doing N21 (my first novice!) and it doesn't look too bad!

Good luck, they're both nice tests, flow really well.

I agree 13 and 14 are horrid. Haven't done prelims in a while, but Starry night is doing a couple and i have 13 tomorrow. Not impressed with it at all!!

yeah prelim 13 and 14 are horrible.
theres nothing on in my area at the mo, so didnt have alot of choice but to do them on my 4yo 1st time out!! wasnt great

I like prelim 12, only because we scored really well in it today. Prelim 4 is harder than 7. I think it relly depends on what your horse prefers to do. Charlie likes the tests with more going on such as prelim 18

Allens Hill in Pershore is a nice place to start off with. It's well run, is on a surface and is fairly quiet with a relaxed atmosphere, but enough entries so that you feel that you are competing and not guaranteed a rossie, if that makes sense!
