Unbreakable

Has anyone ever had,dealt with or know of a horse that was Unbreakable/un rideable that has no physical problem? That just can't accept the rider??
 
My little mare, but I suspect there's something mentally wrong! I got her free to a good home and won't be trying myself so have no idea why
 
My very experienced friend and I took on a very small and nervous M&M pony for a breeder, he was unhandled when he arrived and we got him to the 'being led around mounted' stage after many months of quiet work, at which point he decided that launching himself skyward was a good idea, unfortunately my friend ended up breaking her ribs after being deposited for the third time. We eventually sent him back and said that we felt he was unsuitable for a child to ride as he had been so unpredictable, and not just under saddle. He then went back in the herd for a bit and then on to a producer, he put her jockey in the hedge and she sent him back. He then went to another lady who showed him inhand for a while, still very spooky, and then her young daughter started with him. We warned her what he did, 'he'll be fine, he's going well.......' until he dumped her big time too. He was duly returned again, a really pretty pony about 11 hands, destined to be a field companion/lawn mower I think! We then had his brother later on and he was a doddle to do!

If a pony is strong and brave he can be driven by an adult, some just do not like the idea of a rider. With a tiny pony, there is no great cost involved using it as a companion, a large and expensive lawn mower is a different cup of tea.
 
A friend of mine had a welsh sec D, they tried all ways to break him, at age 6 they decided to send to pro yard to break, he floored a few, one badly broke an elbow when he bronked and launched into the fence. He got sent back unridable. Then a woman took him on, and broke him to carriage, and he is now quite a lovely driving horse, he just never accepted a rider on his back, no issues were found with back, teeth or tack, he just was not having any of it.
