My 5 year old gelding is slightly lame on his off fore. No swelling, heat, punctures, cuts, abcesses etc - aboslutely no sign of anything, except for a slgiht lameness when he's trotted up.
After a week of box rest and a short course of bute, he was still lame, so x-rays and nerve blocks done. Nothing showing up, but vet reckons that he's done something in the very lower part of his leg, possibly round about the pedal joint. he's now on four weeks box rest and bute.
It really is the most frustrating thing, but we've got fingers crossed he'll come through this (he must have known he was meant to be doing his first BE next month!).
Meanwhile, does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? He loves to prat about in the field and when he went lame, the ground was particularly slippy. A sprain, perhaps?
