Hello

Charisma has been off for a month getting fat reserves for Winter and giving us time to search for a new saddle! Anyway she looks pregnant now and we have a saddle and a girth, so this weekend gone her owner and I decided to jump on for a ride. (Me Saturday, her owner Sunday).

I rode Saturday and she felt slightly lame, nothing too bad and no heat in her hooves or legs. I only walked round the block because I thought maybe she was a bit stiff from being off for a month. (She is only 8, mind you!) Run her up for her owner and we decided that she was slightly lame on her near fore. Turned her out agreeing to keep an eye on her.

Owner calls me yesterday saying that she was still slightly lame, but again no heat in her hoof or leg. She was shod on Tuesday, just shoes off trimmed and shoes on again, and both front feet look horrid (had a problem with cracked hooves this summer) with a 'hole' (only word to describe it, like a open crack) near the toe on both hooves. Doesn't look particulary deep, but could this be the cause?

Other than that the only thing I can think of is a muscular strain, probably on her shoulder. Like I say no heat anywhere!
