My horse had had a bit of a lump for the past week just where his chin groove is, it goes right accross the groove. I initially thought it was connected to his salivary glands swelling due to too much moisture (he has been particularly prone to that this year)...but on reflection, I dont think there are glands that far down the jaw. theres no heat, hes eating fine, and its not affecting him with his snaffle in.
He came in from the field last night with his cheeks all puffed up. Checked him out and I cant feel any ulcers and there was nothing stuck. inside his mouth.
I am now wondering if hes had an allergic reaction to eating something like nettles as the cheek area just looks puffy. Im at a loss as to what the lump/swelling is in the chin groove tho. Will post photos later as I cant upload to photobucket just now.
