... though I'm sure it's just me transferring human emotions on her again!
We've had some issues in our mare fields due to one horse attacking another one, so we've had a field change. As there are too many mares in each field the YO has opened up one of the spare fields to spread them out a bit. My mare and another one in her field were very attached to one another, and it was getting a bit risky trying to separate them (for example, when mine had her abscess, we had to dress her foot where her pal could see her, as this other mare was shouting her head off and trying to climb the gate), so YO took the opportunity to split them up.
My mare has gone into a field with other horses she doesn't really know, and refuses to integrate with them. The other four all came from the same herd so they all graze together, but mine just stands on her own. At least she's stopped fence walking and calling to her mate now. When I've gone to check her she's pelted to the gate to see me. I had to rug her today as all the others were sheltering under the hedges but mine was grazing in the middle of the field, wet through and cold.
I'm really upset for her - could someone give me a virtual kick up the jacksy and tell me to man up please?! I keep reminding myself that when I first got her she had to leave all her equine and human friends to come to a strange yard, and it worked out OK!
