Is it worth putting a small article in the local paper saying that we're a new club looking for sponsorship of any kind?

Best places to ask?

Any ideas would be much appreciated

best thing we did was write begging letters and ask people we knew who might have contacts.

I ended up getting lots of D&H stuff one year because friend was a nutritionist for them, she had a load of stuff which was meant to go to Hartpury but they suddenly swapped to spillers and so phone call later and it was ours. their loss was our gain

Though we did get several jibes that year about saving up our tokens off feed bags LOL

Basically write a letter saying what sponsorship oppourtunities you will be giving the sponsor (clothes etc) and how it will benefit them (target audience, number and type of events etc) and send it to as many companies as possible (god bless mail merges). Think outside the box as well don't just target horsey firms think about drinks manufacturers, local bars, clubs, pubs etc as they will all have an interest in the student market.

Didnt recognise you with a diff avatar

Shall investigate further - any freebies or stuff we get is going to be a bonus

we ran pony club dressage comps for our pony club for a few years which were hugely sucessful and made a lot of money for our pony club. As we wern't allowed to offer prize money we approached a local saddlers who offered us vouchers and items as prizes in return for putting a little advert for them in our schedule. worth a try maybe?

(QR: sorry, but it has taken me 10 mins to access this page & Im not waiting for the proper reply page to load!)

TP: I help out at a Charity riding club which gains a lot of sponsorship; naturally people are willing to forward sponsorship as its for charity, but I thought if I attached the sponsors list, it might give you a few ideas! (Best one is probablly the photographer, as he's virtually guarenteed to get some money back!)
