Could anyone please explain to me the action of a universal bit when the rein is on the larger ‘snaffle’ ring?
I understand the effect of the gag action with reins attached to the lower ring, but I’ve read so many conflicting pieces of information regarding what effect the bit has on the horse when not using the gag ring.
Is it the same as a plain snaffle? Or a hanging cheek as the cheek pieces are obviously attached to the top ring? Or does it do something else entirely?
Thanks in advance!
