My university riding team went to our first competition yesterday. Had a fantastic day but we almost didn't make it. It took us 3 hours to get to to Falkirk. It should only take 40 minutes. We got really lost and we got there within a minute of being disqualified

So I jumped on a horse and went to warm up. I had to walk round for a minute before I got my 5 minute warm up. Then I started trotting and I was almost getting bumped out the saddle as she has such a big trot! My test was ok but but the horse was tense and was resisting. The other girls all did well as well but poor Sarah couldn't get her horse to canter! And it was Robyn's first ever dressage test.

The jumping was really good. I had one down and the rest of the team went clear. Robyn did so well to go clear as the wee pony she was riding balloned over the second part of the double - the striding was for horses! She lost her stirrup and the pony jumped the start marker. She stopped 3 strides before the next fence to get stirrup back then pushed the pony on and her jumped the next fence

Over all we came 3rd (out of 4) but I was really pleased as it was the first time the others had been to a BUSA competition. I came 7th and Gill came 5th. However I was second on my dressage horse but still got 33 points

It was held at Ernest Dillion's yard and was not your normal riding school! The horses were all amzing and not the hairy cobs you normally get to ride.

We are holding our competition on the 30th Jan so I had better get organising.
