So i have decided to go for the university equestrian team tryouts (after missing them due to swine flu last year! :mad:)

Very much doubt i would get in but you never know :rolleyes: might make a reserve or something.

Lets just hope i'm not the worst rider in my group :D

Go for it! Is it the BUCS one that is a team of 4 judged over a dressage test and a sj round?

I got asked to stand in as a dressage judge at one some years ago, and thought it was amazing just watching so many different riders and how they got on with the horses.

There was one lazy riding school cob that no-one could get going, then his last rider of the day just had him cantering on air. I was impressed!

Are you at a horsey uni? Much harder if you are to get on a team, but then at least you have a good chance.

I competed on my Uni equestrian team (the Bucs one) you need to show you can ride a novice dressage test and jump 3ft ish on unknown horses so confidence and adaptability are key. Our team when I was there did quite well, getting to the regionals. I remember there were some dam good riders about in the legues some that completed nationally on their own horses, so the compition can be pretty hard but is very enjoyable.

Just got back from it now, i think it went quite well (could of been much worse, the only guy there tried to get on still wearing his backback, slightly cringy moment!) I had afairly decent little pony (as i know a couple of the horses at the riding school can really try to take the piss sometimes!)
Hopefully i may have a chance, I don't think it is a massively horsey uni (Essex Uni?) Many of the riders had a similar ability to me (as far as i could tell) although a couple were really good!
Yeh they ride in the BUC's league, no idea how far they get each year though, it wouldn't bother me really, just a bit of fun :D and socials!

If i don't write an update at some point in the near future you can assume i didn't get in :o

I had such a great time on my Uni Team, really improved my riding no end, and capatained it in my final year :)
