Hi all, I'm sure this has been done before but I can't find what I'm looking for on previous threads so here goes. If I want to find the true unladen weight of my horsebox, I know I have to weigh it with the partitions in but do I leave the gas bottle and the spare wheel on too? I would think not, but I need to know for sure. Also, how much diesel is acceptable to get a true payload when I take it to be weighed?thank you in advance to anyone that can help me out here!

I would say you weigh it with everything on it that you would have if you were off out somewhere, leaving you with a true payload. If you are weighing to sell then Id take tack out, empty water tank and just put in ad, unladen weight xxxxx inc for example full tank of diesel. I never took gas bottle or spare wheel out when I weighed mine as they are carried each time and needed.

Id deffo keep them in to weigh, and probably a full tank too just to be on the safe side. Then you have the basic weight which includes all the necessary stuff, then whoever uses it will just have to know the weight of their horses and tack/equipment, or get it weighed themselves with everything on board :)

Why do you need the unladen weight?

Is it to determine what weight of horse/s you can load into it?

What many forget is that people weight lessens the payload for the horse/s

I am selling it so want to let people know the payload. So strictly speaking, apart from the partitions, am I ok to take everything else off as not everyone carries a spare wheel or gas bottle? Thanks!

For selling it I would take it to a weighbridge and get a ticket then inform any potential buyer that it was weighed with/without the driver and with X percentage of fuel in the tank and without anything in it that will not go with it when sold

Great thank you that's what I figured but good to have it clarified!
