Hi guys - some of you may recall that I posted a few days ago about an RI saying my horse was unlevel and had told me to go to Richard Maxwell. Anyone, following your advice, I got the vet out. She's been today - and I insisted on one of the senior partners rather than a junior - and she was completely happy and said that in her opinion there was no unlevelness, She did flexion tests, we lunged, I rode, and the verdict was that he's young, unfit, he's had a month off, his saddle wasn't ideal, and still relatively unschooled and so any odd short stride (not that she saw any) was very likeley down to all of this.
She also suggested that perhaps the RI just wasn't accustomed to my type of horse (he's a PRE) as they do use themselves very differently to warmbloods.
She has horses of her own and told me of a couple of makes of saddle that might be appropriate for my horse (apparently one of her's is similar in their back). Basically said get the saddle sorted, get him out in the hills for a month to fitten him up and lets have another look in a month to see how he's come on.
I am sooooo relieved, and so pleased that in fact she didn't start saying that he needed this test, that test and the other test.
Anyway, thanks all for encouraging me to do the right thing.
