Advice needed! After being completely shocked by the going rate for 11.2hh first ponies we have found the perfect boy (he's not even grey!). The only downside is that although he's county show standard he's not registered.

Is there anything other than local/PC showing that he can do?

Thanks!

What a shame. I like welshies, can give you any tips cause I don't know. I take it you have a passport. He probably is out of registered stock. good luck with him, have you any pics..

breeding can be traced with the right info but you need blood tests etc to confirm parentage, we have one that we tried to do but as both her parents are dead we can not get her reged

Thanks for the responses. He is a well put together pony but doesn't have the frame or topline of a SHP, I don't think. Will try and work out how to upload some photos.

I'm getting him through a dealer but do know who his previous owner was - trouble is he's 13 and so I'm unlikely to be able to trace him right back to the breeder. Worth a try but unlikely I think.

I should look on the bright side - if I don't have to trot along daintily beside him at county shows I don't have to diet!!

I can be done but may not be worth the aggravation and expense. You will have to get DNA from both parents and your gelding and find original breeder as you may need foaling certificate- not sure on this!. It costs about £350 to do by the time you had 3 vets to take DNA samples and paid 120 to register late. Unless you are serious about showing at county level I wouldnt bother especially as hes a gelding.

But it might still be nice to find out his breeding!

Alot of section A's do well at SHP classes. Also the NCPA and BHS NW counties and i think PUK do unregistered classes
