If anyone saw my last thread about my y/o "surprise" horse arrangement for me....he arrived today and tbh i really like him!
I also had a long talk with the owner who delivered him and she said he has been hacked, done a fun ride and x country schooled aswell as a little flat work in the past.
More recently he stopped racing and has been turned away.
She said when he is in work she would trust him on the road with my daughter on him (she knows my daughter thru other friends- which is an idea i love- we can swap horses! (obs not for a while)
He has lost all muscle and condition but she said carries himself naturally well and when in work quickly picks up on everything.
So far so good! He does need a really good feed but i like his personality and the fact that he is very gentle and inquisitive.
I dont like the fact he has a sarcoid- am a bit worried about that but he's so sweet its a minor downside.
:-)))

Great news :D

My vet got me a brown lotion (5 day course) to put on a new tb mare I got in nov who had a sarcoid approximate 3 cms across. It's worked really well, new hair through now where it was I'll try and find out what it was for you. He only gave me a syringefull as it was so expensive and you don't need the whole bottle.

Good luck, hope all goes well

good to hear that it is going good so far, you should try to get your hands on thuja cream and the tablets, taz gets sarcoids quite alot and these combined have worked wonders to get rid of them :D saves paying for the vet to do it and for a months supply its not expensive, doesnt work for all horses but its worth a try :)

how dare you post this thread and not add piccys! :( :D:D:D

Glad you like him, as I said in the other thread, this is exactly how I got my first pony, he was perfect for me.

With regards to sarcoids, remember there are many types, sarcoid is a collective term for abnormal cell growth and can be benign in many cases. 2 of my horses have had 'sarcoids' floating lumps which when removed with a band never came back. I never think of them now, get the vet to have a look, they will not pass a horse with a sarcoid in a vetting but they will advise on the sarcoid. When my one mare was vetted, the vet noted the sarcoid and told the buyers that it was not to be worried about, it could be removed and was a 'safe' lump, not to be worried about.

Good luck with him, hope it all goes well, now put some pics up!!

Maybe the YO was right after all! lol. That's great that you like him 80) Fingers crossed that the trial goes well (but don't feel pressured by your YO's forwardness in 'arranging' it all), and that he's the same, calm animal once fed and fit again.

Where is the sarcoid? If it's benign and in a 'good' place (i.e. not near tack) it might never need anything done to to, or Liverpool cream might fix it all for a couple of hundred quid. It does affect insurance however, so that's worth a thought.

Another yes please for pictures!

Another one for pic's, then we can see before and after.....

Where is this sarcoid, if it isn't anywhere which effects his way of going and it hasn't changed shape or size in a while i'd leave well alone. Sometimes poking and prodding them can make them aggressive and then worse.

Otherwise sounds like he is a gem.

Remember though, once he ifed up and got some good condition on him again, his personality might change. x

Good Luck.

Photo! Photo! Photo! :D

Great he's arrived and he seems a geuinely nice chap. Have your vet look at the sarcoid. I've had several horses with them over the years and had all 3 successfully treated with the minimum of trouble. Hopefully it'll be an easy one to treat.

Good luck trialling him AND

P H O T O S please!!!!!
