My 1980 livery costs were from London suburban yard that was both livery and riding school with again no TO
In 1960 my riding school, again in London suburb, charged 7/6 (38p) for an hours lesson. It had many liveries as well as the school. I suppose even then being in the suburbs there was less opportunity for people to keep horses on their own land.
I don't blame YOs for taking the cash and running when offered financial security by a housing developer, particularly in the current COL crisis.
