Hi all

After some great help from fellow members I've found and moved my horse to a new yard :)

The problem I now have is that he is very attached to the other horse I moved with as previously they were stabled next to each other and turned out together in a paddock.

At the new place they are in separate blocks, but still get turned out together. My horse just won't relax in the stable, box walking round, shouting to him and basically acting like a mad horse!

Any ideas on ways to calm down the situation? There's no room for us to be in the same block, but not sure If it would be a good idea for them to stay together as surely they need to be apart sometime to be more independent for when want to take him to shows etc on my own?

Any advice!?! :)

Just give him time, don't get stressed out around him, is he eating okay etc? Some horses take a long time to settle in, I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm in the same boat except ours are stabled in sight of each other. Mine keeps peeping over the wall to check his buddy is still there!

They'll settle in time. I have mine on the global herbs calmer which has worked.

Two moved to my (soon to be old!) yard and were in a similar situation - it took them two weeks but they did eventually settle and are now chilled and happy :)

Glad to hear its not just us having a problem with this. Sister moved her mare to a new yard yesterday, is just friends mare, sisters mare and her nearly 2 year old filly. Sister has been on the yard before as she was there for 6 months to have the foal.
Went to feed her mare this afternoon in 1 of the stables, she bounced and stomped round the stable. Hardly ate her feed, luckily she's got a decent covering so its not too much of a worry.
Luckily baby pony must take after her dad, she's stabled at night while the other pair are out and she doesn't care if anyone else is there as long as she has her hay, think she's been here in another life.

Give it time. I was expecting my boy to act like this after moving but he's settled now. We gave him a bit of rescue remedy and he seemed a lot happier on that.

Can your horse see any horses at all or is he on his own?
