Well what can I say, Derby's are pretty hard!!!

Was the 1m one at fieldhouse, was a bit worried because I've only done BNs/90 opens so far this year but he's out of BN so thought I might as well get on with it!

He warmed up great and was super pleased with him over the first 8 jumps, that was just like a normal SJ course, I did turn the wrong way though... ooops!!! Things started to go slightly wrong when the fences got a bit more Derby like! There was a tiny style at 9, which he has down, not surprised really, then you had to jump a SJ actually in the water, he's never done that before and just kind of hopped over and had that down too.. things then picked up a bit up the steps, down over the planks, biggish oxer with a water try which he jumped quite huge over, then planks again, back round to a proper water jump type thing which we've never done before... hoped he wouldn't notice but he did and ducked out.. first stop I've had in years! Wasn't sure if he'd be up for it at all but came round and popped it rather awkwardly, but got over it all the same... so would have finished on 12, which would maybe have been enough for a place as everyone seemed to be falling off/getting lost!! However, I missed the timers at the finish.. so big E for us! :P

Never mind, it was really good fun though and I was really pleased that he jumped so well over the slightly bigger fences.. not too worried about jumping disco now.

Anyway here's some pics.. I know my position is bad!! Also sorry for poor quality!

Well done.............like I said in a previous post it was carnage in May so 12 faults is very good, missing the finish was a rider technical fault ( poor Badger )!!

SJers 'v' water/ steps = chaos!!

Anyway piccies are good - what's next?

Yup the water seemed the worse, but think it confuses them a bit! Will definitely have another go next time! :)

Not sure, back to FH I guess either on Sunday for 90/1m open or Tuesday night for Disco.. Regular SJ will seem easy now lol! ;)

How is your boy getting on? Is he back in work now?

I always struggle to remember the blimmin' courses, they are always so long! But well done, my boy without fail always stops at the first xc style fence

He's got such a ping, and I think your position looks really good! 12 faults isn't so bad at all, and now you'll know he'll find 'normal' 1m classes very easy indeed!

Don't put yourself down there's nothing wrong with your position and a lot of people make course errors from time to time (myself definately included!!) At least Badger is recovered and fit again and looks like he's loving it, bet he will fly your next disco after this!
