There is a Shetland mare locally who (unbeknown to the owner who bought her as a lead rein pony) turned out to be in foal. The dad is allegedly a WB (!). My mind boggles a bit to think HOW but the foal is big.... As in towers over the mare as a yearling but built like a brick sh*t house!

My mare isn't quite so unusual but is 3/4 TB 1/4 exmoor pony. Looks like a TB in summer, looks like a Yak in winter. Think hair sprouting out of her face, not just a beard!

Just wondered if anyone else had some odd breeding combinations and what characteristics they had inherited?

CC, he is a cream dun and 3/4 highland and 1/4 connemara....other than that I know not an awful lot about his him...apart from he used to be an utter nightmare in the past and has one hell of a reputation! lol

Did the WB bend down or was the mare more obliging and use stilts????
Not horsey but my JRT managed to get his end away with a red setter. Reckon she was a Red Slutter!
Anyway in all seriousness, I was always led to believe that the foal grows to the size that the mare can cope with or is aborted early on???

At a yard i was at there was a 15.3 Welsh A x Hackney and it's half brother was Dartmoor x Welsh A who was 11.3hh. The welsh A stallion escaped from the travelers site up the road lol and spent the afternoon going from one yard to the other until the YO managed to catch him!

The RS down the road has an odd little pony that I think may be a Shetland cross of some sort, he has a black face, neck and black tail and back end, the middle of him from bum to withers is white. He's called Harley I presume because he's long and low slung with short little legs.

I used to work for a showjumper who had a very successful mare that was Shire x Arab - what's more, she bred from her with her SF stallion - the result was one of the most (huge

), but also gorgeous, horses I've ever known

My horsey is (apparently - no breeding in his passport) half Lusitano, 1/4 TB and a 1/4 NF. He's 16.1/2 an odd grey dun colour, and gets clipped throughout the year thanks to his thick coat

He is very chilled, apart from when he see horse eating bracken monsters in hedges and very willing to do everything.

I used to loan a shire x dales mare who was around 15.1hh , i was out on a hack once and we came across a loose shettie stallion who became very randy and tried to mount my mare who decided to lay down so he could reach her . I had to jump off and wave my crop at him and make the mare get up. Thank god the owners came running up to us and caught him, what would i have told the mares owner if she was covered , dont think they would of been happy !

Good grief, that's amazing! Have you got any photos? Would love to see what that combination looks like!

I once had a Trakhener x Welsh B pony. That was weird. It was 13.2hh, with a pony body but long legs and a horse-size head! Very odd. It was strong as hell too, although it turned out to be a rig! He would mount anything, no matter how big the mare was! Although, I think its a lot harder the other way around?!
