We've recently been joined by a hamster who bit her new owner the first time she was poked at and was hence unwanted, in fact she was being got rid of before she'd even made it to Christmas Day. That isn't unusual for me, I have a couple of cages I keep purely for unwanted small furries. But at this time of year there are a lot of animals in need of homes so this is a small encouragement to start the new year by doing something positive.
Not everyone has time/space/money for a new creature so other suggestions are
- paying vets bills for those who can't afford (I insured an elderly dog and a cat who where rehomed to suitable homes with limited funds)
- popping down to your local horse charity with any usable rugs etc that have been replaced for your own horses at Christmas or with any unwanted but non-returnable presents
