We've recently been joined by a hamster who bit her new owner the first time she was poked at and was hence unwanted, in fact she was being got rid of before she'd even made it to Christmas Day. That isn't unusual for me, I have a couple of cages I keep purely for unwanted small furries. But at this time of year there are a lot of animals in need of homes so this is a small encouragement to start the new year by doing something positive.

Not everyone has time/space/money for a new creature so other suggestions are
- paying vets bills for those who can't afford (I insured an elderly dog and a cat who where rehomed to suitable homes with limited funds)
- popping down to your local horse charity with any usable rugs etc that have been replaced for your own horses at Christmas or with any unwanted but non-returnable presents

Good post!
We take our prefectly good (and clean!) but not used any more rugs and spare bits of tack to the Blue Cross as it is local to us. They are always friendly and grateful for it. You get to have a super tidy up and help out too, and get to feel good about it! Great start to the new year!

We have a couple of ferrets joining us tomorrow. They have been sitting in Bath Cats and Dogs home since July waiting for a new home. We can't wait to bring them home!

We have an unwanted hamster in my sisters room at the moment, my sister hates it as it bites her every time she tries to handle it and it escaped yesterday and she was too scared to pick it up again so i had to...... safe to say it bit me and got launched across the room into the cage so do you want another? I would take it on if I liked them or had the inclination to have one, but I tend to only like animals dog sized and up (with the exeption of rats - love them!)
