Have got an unwanted guest coming onto my yard (I live at home). Bleddi thing was in the garage the other day: when I say "garage" my vehicle is actually in an old barn where the cats and my terrier can get in. Got the dogs out the car, and suddenly there was a huffle and a scuffle and my little terrier boy scooted off in hot pursuit of a badger.

Last night I let the dogs out into my garden, last thing, and as soon as I opened the door the poor cat rushed in, obviously terrified - I saw the badger just flit across in front of the door, again, dogs in hot pursuit, they chased it into my tack-room where there is actually a square hole cut for the cats to get in so IF I do get a rodent problem the cats can easily sort it. It was in my tack room (Jeezus it stunk!!), I left it there last thing, figuring that if it got in the cat's hole it should be able to get out again; which it did as it was gone (thank god) this morning.

I don't want a badger on my place!! Full stop, end of. They are way too destructive, and apparently will kill hens....... and I don't want a situation where my dogs are under constant "attack" mode because of it.

Any ideas folks about how to dissuade the dang thing from coming here??

We have a badger... I nearly tripped over him once in the dark, he doesn't seem bothered by humans at all and likes to check if the birds have dropped any food under the bird table.

You need a very cross Burmese cat. When we had ours, the Badger stopped coming after the cat leapt on his back with claws blazing. Sadly that cat is dead now (nothing to do with badgers) and the Badger feels quite safe here now.

Oohhhh.......... that's interesting! And would provide a simple solution.

What are the "blue loo ring" things to which you refer??

Oh I suspect you are a young person! Tesco used to sell them, may well they still do, you put them on a hook to hang in your toilet bowl and every time you flush the water goes blue? TBH I haven't tried it myself but may be worth looking into. Mind you your dogs and cats muight hate the smell too.

I've lost nesting ducks to badgers wretched things-they will take hens at night etc given the chance. lots of unneutered dog wee seems to keep them away from the pens. I also had a fox about before xmas and bought some very cheap flashing 'eyes' that are solar powered. I honestly didn't think they would even charge or flash but they are great (come on at dusk, flash all night)-dont know if they saw off the fox or not but for £6 for a pair I am happy to have them dotted about.

But don't you have the hab dabs if you have a glass of wine too many and then take the dogs out for bed time wees?
