would just like to update my post on disguising bute in my shetties,s feed bue to his mild laminitis.
This morning was his last dose of bute and i have cracked how to do it for this little fussy feeder, i soaked a bit of speedibeet and put high fibre nuts to soak in it too so it was quite sloppy.
The result of doing this he munched his bucket down in one go instead of him picking at it over 2 hours. He is lots better and is allowed out but only in a small area with hardly any grass.
He got very depressed in the stable 24/7 as he cannot see over the door and is blind in one eye and with the fireworks going off and landing in the field last year, i was worried about one landing near the stable.
Thankyou for all your suggestions nice to know i can come on forum and there is usually someone on here that can help or just simpathise with the problem.

Glad to hear you are getting there.

Did you ever try keeping the bute in the fridge? I've never tried as I now use Danilon but a friend who used to be a vet nurse said it works!

I did not know about the fridge/freezer thing about bute until 2 days ago i suppose with me taking the bute to my feed shed in field was nearly the same as it was quite cold here last night. Maybe that also helped i was really upset about my little man getting lami i feel i let him down i should of known with the mild autumn and all the grass that is about there was a chance, but he is a poor doer for a shettie not your usual shettie pudding.
I just thought yay he will have a good start this winter, well you know what thought did.
