Considering breeding from my mare and so far very taken with Up With The Lark. Does anyone have experience of his progeny? I'm an amateur eventer and would be breeding to keep, so looking for something as easy to produce as possible, although will get help as required. My mare is 15.2 Welsh x TB, absolute amateur's dream, very confident and easy, double clear after double clear at grassroots, incredibly sound and well put together (bred to show). If I pick her apart, she's a tiny bit long and her canter is her weakness. I would like to breed something a little scopier with a little more quality and 2 inches taller!

I have an Up With the Lark yearling filly out of a Fleetwater Opposition/Java Tiger mare. Totally different breeding to yours, I am very pleased with my filly. She has a lovely temperament. Not good at posting pics but think I managed it in the past!! Look at my previous posts. PM me if you want any more info.
PS I picked Up With the Lark purely because I liked him and wanted a near TB or TB sire. My maiden mare took first time.

Thanks Amanda123! Is that the foal you have on your profile, Sky? Looks lovely :) do you know why Up with the lark retired from eventing?

Following. Have a welsh mare that I considered Up With The Lark for.

I think he retired from eventing simply because he was sold to stud who wanted him for breeding - he's still ridden just not evented.

Iv have seen lots of his offspring and they have all been stunning, and very well put together. Youngsters were well grown and mature. I'm considering using him next year. They are gaining very high gradings. Very good quality

A friend of mine used him on two thoroughbred mares and got very different foals. One laid back and easy, one very difficult and challenging. Both are very talented and she is delighted with them.

Late to this thread, so the decisions have most probably already been made, and acted upon! I think that whilst UWTL is the sort of horse that I'd like to breed, whether he's the sort of horse that I'd like to breed 'from', is another matter, and I suspect that I wouldn't. He has little in the way of those qualities which I'd like to see as improving influences. There are more suitable horses available, it seems to me.

Alec.
