Once again we have been up to loads since my last report so i shall pick up from where i left off....

Arena eventing 7/2/16 at keysoe, another run at 80cm.... 38 stressage, 1 down sj and clear xc to come home 6th! Yet another top 10 finish! #megaponylove

His passport finally come home with his official name..... officially introducing BEAN MACHINE!!!

Next up was some xc schooling on grass for the first time - sadly no footage as i set my go pro wrong!! but he jumped everything, ditches, drops, water, skinnies not an issue! :D

BRC dressage qualifiers next riding for the CDRC 2 very sweet tests for 63.6% and 61.8% not enough to qualify for my team but still very proud considering we havent been out for pure stressage in agggges!!!

Aston arena eventing 27/2/16 WOW is all i can say..... ANOTHER top 10 finish!!! 8th in the 80cm! 42.8 dressage (always find they mark harshly at aston!) double clear including the joker fence! He really is turning out to be pretty epic! :D

Our BE registration is through so time to really start planning the season!

But to the most important part.... First event of the season yesterday at Aston unaff!! 80cm and our first time out a start box! :)

Nice late times but did mean we had a very very long day, with a 5 hr wait in between dressage and jumping!

Ended up with a 41 dressage.... needed longer to warm up tbh but i got stuck in traffic so we arrived late! Typically also on arrival i noticed at issue with my drivers tyre so a quick call to breakdown recovery for them to come and change it for me as didnt fancy the 100 mile drive home with a dodgy tyre! good time wasting 5 hrs watching people getting stuck in the mud, i was slightly smug as had been parked on the last hardstanding spot!

Onto the jumping, i was dead nervous probably due to the fact i fell off sj him on friday.... complete rider error but still first event of the seasn and all and the nerves started to kick in! God knows why he was epic with a clear SJ did pick up 4 time faults as he went a little green on me so i took some nice big corners to give him plenty of time but i was very happy with how we jumped!

Onto the xc, now i was really really nervous! Hadnt xc'ed since Aug as my other lad broke down after his last event plus beanz has never done xc before plus the ground was bad plus it was raining!!! Is that enough excuses???

Warm up was terrible so just about managed to pop the warm up fence and then headed to the start box full of nerves and chattering teeth... it was really cold! 1, 2, 3 out the box he clocked one and was off! over 2 a nice round top round a corner and through a gate to 3, popped that nicely now 4 i was a little worried about, it was bigger than the first 3 and had pink flowers on it.... i hate pink! Beanz didnt even notice it, onto 5 where i messed my stride up..... photographer was here so it was bound to happen, not that beanz cared he just left me behind and bit and told me to catch up! 6 the ditch dropped to a trot so he could see it, no need to bother straight over and onto 7 and 8 now this turned out to be tricky as about 10 ducks decided to waddle there way all of the place so after a game of dodge the duck we were on to 9 the tyres flew that, 10 we came a little unstuck he stopped and then jumped from a standstill so sadly we were awarded 20 penalties but he still jumped first time round so i dont care! onto 11 the bank and 12 and 13 the water straight through no issues, no issues with the corner or the 2 final fences of brushes! :D He was epic and amazing and such a fricking dude..... i love him lots!!! :D

we did rack up some time faults xc but the ground was diabolical in places so no way was i going to push him we just went round at his pace, but the best part was he was looking for the flags and taking me to the fences.... what more can you ask for from a baby???

Sadly no action shots as my friend was straight in after me so no camera time and the pro photos arent up yet so i cant spend my money!! :D

So massive pony love atm and i cant wait for our next run in April! Although hes having a good few days off to chill out for the time being :)

In other news the other goon is still sound and enjoying trot work!

Over and out for now :D

OMG Bean Machine is just awesome!!!!!!!!! Flipping well done you both, I'm so in awe and 'well jeal' as they say :D.

He looks lovely. Sounds like a good season in order for you guys! We were meant to be at first event at Tweseldown tomorrow but cancelled 😕 boo.

Hopefully it will be! Have a few more unaff runs planned for April with a BE in mind for may! Before he has a break in june whilst I go travelling :) yeah I saw that on twittereventing :( stupid rain ruining all the fun! Hope it goes away soon so you can get out!

What a fab little horse you have! Well done on all the placings and great attempt at your first event of the season, onwards and upwards as they say :)

I love the name! And what brilliant results, he sounds awesome :D

I never worry too much about the first event, use it as blowing the cobwebs away, getting to know each other again and focus more On finding what the weaker areas are before the next event :)

When is your next event? :)

Thank you, he is a bit of a dude!!! im just so impressed with how quickly he has taken to it all :)

Its a pretty cool name! I was going for something that would sound awesome on xc commentary! He was simply known as 111 at the dealer as that was his lot number coming out of the irish sales!

Tbh the aim of our first event was to get round in one piece! The final score to me doesnt matter, i was really just looking to see his attitude towards it and how he would cope :) and i was very pleased with him!

He has a bit of a quiet few weeks coming up, we are off hunting on wed for ladies day and then we have a xc clinic booked in for the final weekend of March. His next event will be the 9th April back at Aston for another unaffiliated and then we head onto Ely eventing centre for a hunter trail and another unaffiliated ode at Stratford hills on the 24th. All with the main aim of Keysoe's BE 9th May! I dont want to push him or rush him (he isnt 5 until april!) so we shall be sticking at 80cm to gain experience but i do hope we can make the step up to 90 before the end of the season, we shall just see how that goes thou whenever he feels ready :)

Ooh nice! Bet he is fab to hunt!
Sounds like a good, educational plan for him, and means keysoe should be easy peasy :D

I'd probably be aiming to do move up to 90 after keysoe as I don't think it's much harder than an 80 tbh. We don't have 80s in Ireland, lowest is intro (90) and there's normally no issues :)

Billy's name is Geronimo - being a massive coloured horse who is very brave xc it certainly suits him! Hoping to Do dressage to music class one day just so I can ride to the song Geronimo :D :D

He is fab to hunt :D goes where ever and jumps anything!

Im off travelling round thailand in june so im thinking one more run at BE80 end of May then he will have couple of weeks off while im away to chill out a bit and then hopefully pick up again in July and step him up to 90 then :)

Gernonimo is an awesome name! love it! :D

Great stuff Arniebear (and the Coolbeanz of course). Sounds a fantastic start and as another suffering w/d symptoms as Tweseldown not happening good to read! Look forward to the next one.

I really really like him! He sounds like he has a real can do attitude but you deserve as much credit as him for that as you're obviously filling him with confidence.
Looking forward to the next report!

nawww thanks he's only the second youngster ive had so its still a learning curve, i do love doing new things with them thou such a bigger sense of achievement when they learn something new :)

FAb! What a great pony - and an ace new name! Good luck for the season

Thanks :)

Well done. Do you have plans for the other one yet, or just seeing how he comes along?

The other one is still on hack work only, although did pop him in the arena last week when the weather was too bad for hacking just to see what he would remember! He is supposed to start canter work this weekend but i may give him another few weeks of trot work. Id love to have him back out competing asap but theres not much point tbh i have tentatively penciled in a RC dressage qualifer for july (but dont tell him, im sure he will go lame again if you do!!) I guess i shall just wait and see if he's ready and up for it by then or not. As he wont jump until at least late summer 2017 (trying to give him the best possible chance!) its just dressage if we do go out and theres never any rush for dressage now is there?! Especially not when i'll be busy eventing with Beanz. If i dont get out with him before the event season finishes then he will be upped into competition mode when Beanz is having his end of season break. I darent make any massive plans just incase i jinx it!! He will play about hacking, with forest and beach trips and hopefully some sponsered rides all summer for fun, before i fork out for BD membership! How is Vito doing with his injury?

Love the name, well done.

:D Thanks!

Missed this report last week, what a great write up, and well done both of you. Great pictures!
Thank you, hopefully there will be many more pictures throughout the season, he seems to like the camera!! :D

lovely report and loving his name - really suits him ;-)
good luck with the rest of your season, look forward to the next report!
