Hi guys,

I posted a while back about my section D Colt.

I have now got him in feild livery and I have to say it is the best thing I have done for him so far.

He loves it, he is so much calmer and loving. I am able to do a little more with him too: currently just comnpleted getting him used to the head collar on and off.

I have moved onto walking him a little in the feild with the head collar and lead rope:so far so good. (I dont want to do loads with him, think he's too young and i have plenty of time?)

Anyways, the other day when I went to give him his breakfast I found apples in my field? bare in mind there is NO apple tree anywhere near lol.

So I figure someone probably thinks their being nice and feeding my lad.

The only thing is he is incedibly "mouthy" and chews and nibbles me to bits:I've been working on this and he has calmed down with this.......until recently. Now I suspect that the reason he has gone back to his old ways is due to folk feeding him by hand???

So I think I should put signs up as I cant be there standing guard all day.

Thoughts please, and what should my signs say? I dont want to provoke anyone/make them feel bad as it being apples I think they just are tryin to be nice to my boy.

Thanks in advance

this annoys me so much. I have a DO NOT FEED notice, and I think the feeding stopped with that, I certainly dont find bits of crap in the field now.

(so wanted to put 'Do not feed the horses, or I will follow you home and feed your kids skittles and brandy ')

I know,it is a pet peev of mine: they probably think their being nice or not doing any harm: but this is such a misguided notion. like you said I bet they wouldnt like their pets or kids being fed a bunch of stuff thats going to have them bouncing off the walls: I suppose I'm lucky they're only trying to feed him apples.

I'm going to nip it in the bud before they get ideas to feed him alsorts of rubbish lol.

I'm gettin signs at the ready: they'll not be able to claim they didnt see them!

Thanks for the replies

I had a "please do not feed this pony" sign on my stable door when I kept him at livery and his stable was on the lane side - I found a great gobstopper sweet on the ground that someone had tried to give him. Whoever was feeding him obviously took offence as they tore my sign down and screwed it up on the ground! Made me so mad I felt like hiding in the stable and punching them on the nose when they appeared!

I would write something very diplomatic, so as not to annoy people..... ie

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE HORSE IT MAKES HIM POORLY

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE HORSE HE GETS TUMMY ACHE

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE HORSE AS DIABETIC

CCTV CAMERAS PLEASE DON'T FEED THE HORSE
ORRR

FEED THE HORSE AND I PUNCH YOU IN THE SWEDE:D

I would put
DO NOT FEED, CURRENTLY BEING FED UNDER VETERINARY GUINDACE.
then in small print underneath.. failure to abide to this notice will result in a punch in the bonce.
snooz you loose if you dont read the small print! ;-)

Thanks again for the advice: I have scattered my signs around my fencing: just A4 in size and they simply say

"Please do not feed the horses Thank you (Under veterany guidence)

they seem to be doing the trick as not found any stray apples etc lying around lol.
