Well I went to A&E to be told i had a mid bone fracture of my little toe and that i had badly sprained my ankle but they were concerned because of the amount of pain I was in so was put on crutches and told to continue to weight bear but with help of the crutched and that they would refer me to the fracture clinic.

I went to the fracture clinic yesterday and after waiting over and hour the doctor was still bothered about the pain in my ankle (didnt even look at my toe) so sent me for a second round of xrays.

There was no broken bones (other than the toe) but he said i had a suspected lisfranc injury, at this point I thought someone was taking the micky because it is pronounced Liz Frank and my name is Elizabeth Franklin this was all too ironic. :D

Apparently this injury can be very serious if is the ligament that holds the foot etc in place and if i dont completely rest if for 2 weeks my ankle etc could displace with would mean surgery.

So i am now in plaster, unbelievable, and i am not allowed to weight bear at all which means no more horses for 2 weeks. The doctor has even signed me off work and i am only a part time receptionist so spend my time sitting down anyway. He refused to let me work and said I MUST do nothing for 2 weeks.

I am bored already i really cant believe that falling down a couple of stairs, sober i might add, can do so much damage.

To top this whole thing off the injury is most common with horse riders when they fall off and get the foot caught in the stirrup, only i could get a horse related injury from falling down the stairs........

Aw bless! Glad you got it checked.

You'll end up like me - I've been off sick for two weeks, not allowed to drive/ride, and having an op on Monday that will keep me off everything for at least three months. I'm bored too - hence why I'm on here so much!!

Hope the pain is going a bit for you now.xx

Yup, it's the ligament rupturing which caused my displaced cuboid, apparently! Doesn't necessarily mean surgery, though - mine is being fixed with the orthotics and rest (oh what a laugh that is!).

Had to laugh at the Liz Frank thing! That is just too funny!!

Hope it heals quickly. Two weeks will soon pass and it'll be worth it!

I think the doctor was trying to scare me with the surgery comment. He wanted to stress how important it was that i rest, which is not an easy thing to do for us horsey types.

Day time telly is getting a bit boring now.

My oh is going to set up a PC in the bedroom so i can surf in bed, I am in his office at the moment but the crutches and plaster cast on a laminate floor is not a good combination.

Hope you are all feeling better soon.
