thanks for all your tips and advice it all helped and to anyone with the same problem there is always light at the end of the tunnel!

That's great news! I do think crates are immensely useful - a lot of people think they are cruel but actually a lot of dogs feel very secure in them.

Great news.................Yip I too think crates are fantastic, I couldnt be without them

Excellent!!

As long as you don't treat the crate as a punishment then they LOVE it!!

Finn is now too big for his (The biggest size you can get!)

I used to think crates were unnecessary, but that was in the days when I had two well behaved greyhounds. Now, I have a delinquent Shepherd pup and wouldn't be without the crate.

He views it as his bed and his haven, if he's tired, scared or has done something he thinks he shouldn't have he goes straight to his bed. I wouldn't dare leave him loose at night as everything would be in a soggy heap in the morning, he is a collector not a destroyer though.

My opinion of crates has changed completely, a very useful item of equipment.

ooh if only my dog wasnt so scared of them, he chews the house to bits of we just go out onto the driveway!!!!

he was a "gypsy" dog and was abused and locked in a cage as a punishment, so he is so scared of them

but they do usually work wonders
