spoke to the vet today re the fluid and infection still present, hes coming out tommorrow morning as he thinks either joint fluid or a hematoma (sp)
.
either way he needs more antibiotics , im just worried now it maybe more serious than i thought.
but as i said theres no lameness there or pain.
at least tommorrow i will have piece of mind one way or the other.

now this is only my opinion...but i honestly dont see how there can be joint fluid without infected joint which would mean hopping lame and would require arthroscopic surgery!

let us know what he says tommorow

Glad you spoke to the vet and didnt get swayed by the yard know it alls. Sorry shouldnt really say that but it just really annoys me as you know your horse best. Try not to worry too much, Im sure if it was joint fluid he would be very lame.
Hope all goes well tomorrow.

i thought that too. but like you say hes my horse and i want the best care i can give him. these so call no-it all 's have 2 horses that they are treating themselves but added antibiotics onto my vet bill last week and if the vet hadn't cheaked the horse for free then they wouldn't have had it seen to. don't get me wrong i would treat my horse myself and actually did give him a shot of penicillin before the vet arrived as i knew it was needed at that moment in time. but to be honest i've never seen anything like this so seeked expert advise as i knew the infection would only get worse.
as i see it i bought my horses, and its me that has to give them the care thats needed, if i don't know exactly what to do then i seek advice else where i'm sure thats what every one should do.
i think i'm worrying over nothing but its better to be safe than sorry. don't get me wrong i could do without the vet bills at this time of year but im going with my heart on this one as i would never forgive myself if something bad happened or if the wound got worse because i waited too long.
as you say he'd be lame at least slightly if some thing serious was wrong.
keep your fingers crossed for tommorrow for us please
